A night of performances at the White House by megawatt Latino stars including Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan were canceled after Monday’s mass shooting in Washington, D.C., the White House Press Office announced Monday evening.
The Música Latina event was to be held Monday night in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Artists Natalie Cole, Lila Downs, Raul Malo, Prince Royce, Arturo Sandoval, Romeo Santos, Alejandro Sanz, Marco Antonio Solis and others were all scheduled to appear at the show.
Música Latina will be “postponed to a new date,” the White House announced, out of respect for the victims and families of the mass shootings Monday morning at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
At least 12 people were killed by a former naval petty officer named Aaron Alexis, authorities said in an afternoon press conference on Monday.
