Progreso Latino Fund

The Progreso Latino Fund signals the readiness of the Latino community to play a greater role within philanthropic institutions such as The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The Fund was established in 2003 to promote the educational and socio-economic well-being of Latinos in the City of New Haven and the region, with special attention given to Puerto Rican youth. Periodically the Fund sponsors learning opportunities to engage Latinos in a meaningful way around issues that impact their community and to increase the Fund’s endowment.
The need for the fund is clear. Despite that Latinos make up the largest minority population in the State of Connecticut today, they still face many challenges. Among them – access to health and education services and overcoming racism and discrimination.  Deeply rooted in a culture that values comunidad y familia, Latinos have a long cherished tradition of giving through family, neighbors and churches.  The Progreso Latino Fund adds to that tradition by providing an opportunity to further impact the community’s progreso.
