Can you say adorable? The newest face of Gerber has been chosen and she’s a cutie! The fresh face of the brand is 8-month-old Mary Jane Montoya, daughter of Sara and Billy Montoya from Fresno, Calif., reports Fox News Latino. Mary Jane joined the original Gerber baby, Ann Taylor Cook, now 85, on the TODAY show after Gerber announced the winner.
Gerber held a Facebook contest, where parents and guardians entered their little ones in hopes to represent the iconic brand come 2013. More than 300,000 entries were received, before a winner was chosen for the new ad campaign.
“It took a little while to get that picture, too, because she would not stop looking at the grass and looking at the birds… of course we think our baby is adorable and beautiful, but every parent sees that in their child,” Sara told TODAY‘s Natalie Morales, holding Mary Jane on her lap (see video clip below).
Mary Jane is the first child of the couple. They plan to put the $50,000 prize money into a college fund.
While Montoya was selected as the grand prize winner, she will not be replacing the original Gerber baby, Cook. Like Montoya, the 1927 sketch of Cook as an infant was submitted in a nationwide contest. Cook won, making her the first Gerber baby in 1928. Then in 1931, the portrait was trademarked. Cook has publicly approved Montoya as the new Gerber baby.
“She is just adorable, and she is a delightful little person,” said the 85-year-old on the TODAY  show.
The Gerber Generation marketing campaign was born to give a voice to today’s children and their desire to live healthier lives. Gerber provides parents with products and resources for these children through its Start Healthy, Stay Healthy™ Nutrition System, which helps build healthy eating habits from birth through preschool.
