Last year’s Chase For The Sprint Cup easily could have qualified as a TV reality show, what with all the drama, excitement, exasperation and even punches.
Now, NASCAR and its broadcast arm, NASCAR Productions, will produce an actual reality TV series about Hispanic racers trying to make it in the sport and transitioning to life and racing in the U.S.
The sanctioning body announced that well-known Cuban-American actor William Levy will be one of the producers of the non-scripted series.
“Our goal is to produce original TV, film and digital projects that highlight some of the most compelling stories in NASCAR,” Zane Stoddard, NASCAR’s vice president of entertainment marketing and content development, said in a media release.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with William Levy and his team on a project we believe both sports and non-sports fans alike will enjoy,” Stoddard added.
