ct students for a dreamThis conference will bring together educators (high school teachers, counselors, high school staff, parent liaisons, community organization staff, future educators, and many others) from around the state to talk about how educators can better support and advocate for undocumented students, share best practices, build networks, and discuss how to collectively advocate with undocumented students.
Over 150 Educators from around the state’s colleges, high schools, middle schools, social service and state agencies are expected to attend the conference, along with over 20 volunteers and undocumented youth.
“Moving from Knowledge to Action: An Educator Conf. on Undocumented Students” is being generously sponsored by Wesleyan University, United We Dream, The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven and the New Haven Promise.
Undocumented students in Connecticut face a broad range of challenges. Only 5-10% of undocumented students go on to attend college after high school. However, there are both large and small steps that educators, schools, districts, and the state can take to make the educational climate better for undocumented students.
Connecticut Students for a Dream is a youth-led statewide network fighting for the rights of undocumented youth and their families.
