HARTFORD—A classic tale emerges from the shadows this fall as Hartford Stage commences its 2024-2025 season with “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. The eerie and witty performance runs from October 10 to November 3, 2024.

“Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a really fun psychological thriller,” said Director Melia Bensussen. “It’s about the darkness that lives in all of us.”

An elaborate, Victorian gothic set transports audiences to 19th-century London to tell this equally haunting and complex story. Nathan Darrow stars as Dr. Henry Jekyll—the cast includes Jennifer Bareilles, Sarah Chalfie, Nayib Felix, Omar Robinson, and Peter Stray.

“The well-respected Dr. Jekyll is pitted against his villainous alter-ego, the mysterious Mr. Hyde, in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse,” reads Hartford Stage’s description. “In this witty and suspenseful adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic, decency and depravity battle to see which side will ultimately control the man.”

The performance is adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by Melia Bensussen. The artistic team and crew include An-lin Dauber on costume design, Jodi Stone on wig, hair, and makeup design, Shura Baryshnikov on choreography, Evan C. Anderson on lighting design, Jennifer Scapetis as a voice and dialect coach, Alaine Alldaffer in charge of casting, Sara Brown on scenic design, Jane Shaw on original music & sound design, and Omar Robinson on fight choreography.

Tickets start at $30; discounts are available for students and groups. Learn more and purchase tickets at https://www.hartfordstage.org/, by phone at 860-527-5151, or in person through the box office at 50 Church Street, Hartford, CT.
