With the deadline to apply or change your healthcare insurance plan during open enrollment fast approaching, Access Health CT is holding several fairs where individuals can get one-on-one assistance in choosing and enrolling in a plan.

In addition to the fairs, individuals can look at plans, compare their options and choose the best one for their needs on the Access Health CT’s (AHCT) website, accesshealthct.com. The site is the state’s health insurance exchange which was created by the Affordable Care Act.

In 2020, those who receive federal subsidies to help with their insurance coverage will see lower premiums for the year, according to an October courant.com article. But those not receiving subsidies will see premium increases of $116.

In September, the state Department of Insurance approved an average price increase of 3.65 percent on individual plans. Regulators approved an average increase of 2 percent among ConnectiCare plans, however the carrier had requested an average increase of 4.9 percent, according to the article. Meanwhile, Anthem had requested rate increases of 15.2 percent on individual plans, but regulators approved an average increase of 6.5 percent.
