Ayala Needs To Tell More about Her Accident

Christina Ayala

The Connecticut Post is demanding that Christina Ayala, Democratic candidate from the 128th House District in Bridgeport, provide more details about the hit-and-run accident she was involved in the day after winning a primary in the race.
The Post editorial said, “As an endorsed Democrat, she’s most likely to win the Nov. 6 election, not necessarily for possessing or lacking any particular skill, but because of the machine support that endorsement provides. Barring an explanation — or a court finding of not guilty — it would be a shame for her to be sitting in Hartford as a citizen legislator.”
One aspect of the case that bothers the Post is the involvement of children. “The residents of Bridgeport’s 128th Assembly District deserve representation by someone with the maturity to know how to respond in a crisis. Driving recklessly with two youngsters in the car and fleeing the scene of an accident does not come close to meeting that definition,” the editorial said.
The editorial also hopes that the court system will come to a speedy conclusion on Ayala’s case, which was continued to Oct. 6. “The court, we’re confident, will see the need to resolve this matter before Nov. 6,” the editorial concluded.
